Picture this infield: A-Rod, Jeter, Canoe, and 1st Base: Nomar Garciaparra.
Not bad. I first started toying with the idea as a result of an email that I got from Crash (who will for the rest of his life be referred to as Judas Jr. for changing the date of the Giants trip to a date I could've went to and did not tell me... way to go) who was thinking out loud about the possibility of a trade involving the Dodgers and Sheffield.
So, pinstripes did a little digging, only to find out that Nomar has filed for Free Agency. Which gives a team the opportunity to just sign him outright.
Let's pretend for a moment that his injury problems are behind him and the Yanks could get him for a 3 year $5mm per year offer with an option for a 4th. The batting lineup could be:
Damon, Jeter, Abreu, A-Rod, Giambi, Nomar, Matsui, Canoe, Posada
With Cabrera and Phillips on the bench.
I'm not saying its a high probability, but that would be a damn solid lineup....
.. Does Cashman have the greatest job in the world or what?

I can't freaking believe what I am about to say......but I agree with you...yes...I agree with you. That's an awesome lineup and Nomar actually proved that he is an above average defensive first baseman. I wouldn't give him more than 2 years though.
Still don't think A Rod will be a Yankee on opening day.
For the record...I never said anything about Shef being traded to LA. He would never go to LA, he was already there and burned that bridge long ago. My bet is Shef is going to the NL probably SD or SF...but Cubs and Phils are also interested.

While the view of Nomar playing for the Yankees would be interesting, it would put three eogcentric shortstops on the field at the same time (okay two former shortstops now playing different positions). Two things to consider: (1)The Yankees have talked about getting younger that won't happen with Nomar. He is 33 and has had several injuries which make him an old 33. (2) His wife wants to stay on the west coast. My guess, he stays with LA.
Oh and Crash, dress warm on Sunday there will be flurries in the air.
I will NEVER leave LA, nor will I let my husband leave.
As long as Shef does not go to the Mets, then I don't give a damn where he goes... worthless puke; just like his Uncle Doc. He might have cost them the series against the Tigers. His worthless defense hurt them more than his bat did.
