Just a couple of quick notes:

Yanks end the weekend with a sweep of the 'Stros and are now 4 games over .500 - that may be a season high. A bit of luck in that they are catching the Padres next up.

Just when you think the starting pitching is locked down, Wang has to go and sprain a foot. He'll miss at least one start.

Joba is looking strong as a starter.

It's good to see Dan Giese making the most of his time at the show.

This has to be one of the most frustrating times for Shelley Duncan - sent back down to SWB.

I think the preseason line for the All-Star break is looking like a pretty good call for Willie's future with the Mets.

I"m not much of a golf fan, but what a monster put Tiger sank to force the playoff.

I'm sad to see Tim Russert go. He was one of the few remaining members of the media that held and practiced traditional American values. He was Buffalo's biggest modern day celeb. He will be irreplaceable.

Regarding Crash's statement to 57 about not sending cash by him a beer, 57 I thought I raised him better than that - send the cash, it will help starting the Corvette.

Too bad about Wang. A sprain in the upper foot area will be at least a four week venture to the DL. The right foot is his landing foot and if that is not right, he will risk changing his delivery and risk arm problems.

Geise would be the logical choice to move into the rotation.

I would say based on Karstens last start fresh of the DL, he'll be given a shot should Wang need to miss a turn in the Ro.

The New York Post has just reported that Billy Wagner actually DID NOT blow a save for the Mets last night...Is this true? Can someone help me out and confirm this?

Nah, must have been a delayed April Fools Day joke.

I will live up to my word and relinquish $5 to each member of this blog. Scooter, you'll get yours in two weeks. Prof, you can now buy a gallon of gas.

The loss of Tim Russert was tough to take for me. Im pretty sad about it. Not much left to be said about that. He was just a GREAT man that was taken far to quickly.

On the brightside, at least he lived a pretty full life.

If Wang is down for an extended period then the Yankees will HAVE to make a move for a starting pitcher..sooner, rather than later.

It will be interesting to see if they go lower tier (Shawn Chacon type), middle tier (Bronson Arroyo type) or elite (Sabathia or Burnett).

I think we all know that Karstens is not the answer..well all of us except Mid.

I just saw that yesterday marked the 20th anniversary of the movie Bull Durham. As you couldn't guess by my screen name, in my opinion it's one of the best baseball movies ever made.

If you haven't seen it, or haven't seen it in a while, go rent it, buy it, download it, whatever, and give it watch on an off day.

Oh boy...Wang may be in trouble...

The New York Times reports that Yankees SP Chien-Ming Wang's foot injury is showing all the symptoms of a serious Lisfranc ligament issue, a problem that could sideline Wang for the rest of the season.

I think Bruney had this same thing didn't he??? He's been out since April and may not be back until the after the All-Star break.

Hopefully Wang does not have this. If so, this becomes long term and the Yankees will officially be in panic mode and make a serious offer for Sabbathia.

Bruney had the same injury and opted not to have surgery. He is not expected back until Mid to late August. To keep some arm strength, Bruney has been throwing while sitting in a chair. He can't even step forward yet in a throwing motion. If Wang has this injury, his season is finished. Good argument to have the DH in both leagues.

Scooter, Chacon already did a stint with the Yankees and was allowed to leave, Burnett can't stay off the DL (he has a tendency to be another, dare I say it, Pavano). Sabathia will come at too high of a price tag.

The Yankees brass, while not willing to use the term, have designated this as a rebuilding year. They have enought arms at the farm to fill in. Giese should be given a chance to fill in. And if they have 40 million invested in Igwa, they should use him. Pettitte, Mussina, Rasner, and Chamberlain give you consistent innings as four starters. The number five guy -let him win once every three times out and you could still look at making the playoffs.

NEW YORK (AP) -- Yankees ace Chien-Ming Wang will miss at least six weeks after injuring his right foot while running the bases during the weekend.

An examination Monday showed Wang partially tore a tendon and sprained his foot Sunday during New York's 13-0 win at Houston.

Wang is 8-2 with a 4.07 ERA. He will be on crutches and wear a protective boot for the next six weeks.
