Today, and for about the first 2 and half minutes of tomorrow, marks the 5th anniversary of what possibly could be the most memorable World Series game in recent Yankee history.
Game 4 of the 2001 series. It had pitching. It had tense moments and solid defensive play. It had hardened veterans (Schilling, O'Neill, Martinez, Grace, etc.), and emerging stars (Soriano). It had drama (Pulling Schilling for Kim). It had disappointment (Jeter was batting an A-Rod like .067 heading into game four), we had our first and only taste of November baseball, add a little Yankee magic and about 45 seconds after midnight, we had crowned Mr. November and tied the series at 2. What a freakin' game.
Other than possibly when Aarron Boone hit his extra inning home run in the 2003 ALCS, have you ever jumped as high or yelled as loud when Tino hit that two-run HR in the bottom of the 9th? Clutch veteran play.
That series was so good, I almost don't mind the fact that the Yankees lost.
Let's just take this day, and while giving out candy to the little ham and eggers, keep an eye open for the kid dressed in pinstripes for his costume, and give that kid a little more than everyone else in honor of this game!

Jeter is not my least favorite player - the table was set by my most two favorite players - O'Neill, and Martinez. Your boy, was batting less than .100 prior to that one hit.
Even YOU liking them can't get me to "dis" Paul the Warrior and Tino the Gamer...they were both great leaders, great ballplayers and great Yankees....and we certainly miss them.
And you're missing the point on Jeter...He WON the game!!!

Tino had a short porch to work with. I am a lefty as well, and even I would be a great Yankee..what lefty wasn't?
Keith Hernandez and Len Dykstra would be in the Hall if they played in Yankee Stadium.
