Roster and Game 1 Lineup Set

In my mind, I think the only roster move that surprised me was keeping Sardina. He did well when he was up, speed for sure, just surprised - pleasantly - that Torre opted for someone with so little MLB experience.

Torre sticking with the lineup that got the team to October opting for Matsui over Duncan at DH.

Pitching: No Bruney or Villone which is good, I have no confidence in them. Thumbs up on Ross Ohlendorf and Jose Veras making the cut.

Game 1 Lineup:
1. Johnny Damon LF
2. Derek Jeter SS
3. Bobby Abreu RF
4. Alex Rodriguez 3B
5. Jorge Posada C
6. Hideki Matsui DH
7. Robinson Cano 2B
8. Melky Cabrera CF
9. Doug Mientkiewicz 1B

Bad move by Torre on Matsui. Matsui is not 100% PLUS his numbers against the lefty Sabathia are less then stellar. He might regret that decision.

I have to agree with 57 on this one. Now watch Matsui go out and go 4 for 4.

I agree, but do understand why Torre is doing it ...

Not surprising the Phillies lost - as evidenced by the parade for making the playoffs - they're just happy to be there.

D'Backs are showing that it may be 2001 all over again - all pitching, not much hitting.

Matsui has had his knee drained and is feeling somewhat better. He reports he now has flexibility that he has not had for the last several weeks.

Surprised at he move to leave Vallone of the roster. Who is the lefty in the pen?

As for the playoff games from Wednesday there was one constant in all of them. They were well pitched. Even the losing teams can't cry about the effort from their starters (Fogg had one shakey inning).

I think TBS sucks at baseball coverage. -

I'm not a real fan, I just realized I'm going to miss the first few innings of tonight's game (board meeting) and I am pissed. I think I should suspend myself from the blog.

Don't feel bad, Mid. I have a dinner meeting at 7. I have exhausted all possible means to get out of it....but I have failed. I'll probably miss the whole friggin' game. ARGHHHHHHHH!

Will anybody be watching the first few innings. I am stuck rebuilding a deck.

I was surprised to see that the Yankees do not have a lefthanded reliever in the bullpen. I would not want to be a righthanded pitcher throwing to Travis Hafner in a clutch situation.

Who's stuck rebuilding a deck???

Mid,
Regarding the deck, both of us (my spouse and I) are removing the old deck and putting a new one in. Both of us working keeps harmony in the home. Besides there is an old saying if mom is not happy, no one is happy. Enough Said.

Mid, you let your old man bust his ass building a deck? Why the hell do you think he had a son...get over there and lend a hand.
