All Good Things Come to an End

I'm of the opinion that when you're down by 5, and you have the bases loaded with no outs and you're 4,5 and 6 hitters fail to bring in a run, then that is pretty much the ballgame. With that said, as I'm putting in this post, we've yet to complete the 6th, and I'm saying it's safe to say, the streak ends at 8. Not a bad run that started against teams they were looking up at in the Wild Card standings - simply put these were quality wins.

Next up is Baltimore. When you play a last place team, you need to beat them like a last place team - let's hope there is no letdown in this series.

How fitting that the Goose goes into the Hall on the week of the 25th anniversary of the Pine Tar Game.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say Ponson better hope that they can't swing a deal for Washburn.

My apologies for causing a stir among certain Yankee fans last night with my erroneous announcment of Washburn to the Yankees for Melky straight up.

When I think of the two greatest stat collectors in MLB today they share the same last name: Rodriguez.

K-Rod collects his saves in meaningless games and A-Rod collects his HRs and hits when the game is already decided.

Bases loaded - he lines out to third. Down by a ton, he hits a ton.

The more things change, the more they stay the same.

And 57 - I just checked with the league, you will be serving a 24 hour suspension from the blog at midnight tonight for spreading false rumors within the Yankee Empire.

I'm not one to question your authority Mid, but 24 hours seems awfully lenient for such an egregious error.

And I'm ok with killing A-Rod, but he did hit the ball hard that time up.

Scooter, McCutchen was not someone they were looking to in the near future. Pitched okay at Trenton has not gotten a lot of support at SWB. Averaged about one strikeout per inning. Has already started a game at at Pittsburgh's Triple A affiliate.

Guess regarding the name changes in the trade came down to two reasons: one the Pirates may have asked for more; and by sending both Karstens and Olendorf, it cleared two roster spots on the 40 man which eliminated the option of releasing someone.

Speaking of released, it would appear that Hawkins days in pinstripes are over. He has been designated for assignment.

Mid regarding your rants about A-Rod, you don't win the MVP without coming through in the clutch. He proved last season he can hit in the clutch and he has hit in the clutch this year. It is easy to sit and put the failure of the Yankee offense on him.

I don't think there is going to be a trade for Washburn. Kennedy is about ready to come back and with Hughes beginning his rehab the Yankees can muddle through with Ponson or Rasner until he is ready.

Here's a little clip from MLBTradeRumors.com:

The Yankees still don't want to send more than a middling prospect for Washburn. Meanwhile, the Ms hope Hank Steinbrenner will demand Brian Cashman acquire the pitcher, even if it means trading Melky Cabrera or Brett Gardner.

Unfortunately I don't see the Yankees trading Melky this year. They have no one to replace him defensively.

Jon Lester is a year away from being a true superstar pitcher. I hope Hughes and/or Kennedy can look like that next year.

Um, A-Rod was clutch last year.

This year is a different story.

The numbers are what they for the year. He's hitting under .250 with RISP when most players see their avg. rise

Mid, before you talk about A-Rod, take a look at the box score: Nady (the new savior from the rightside) left five men on base and Cano left four and oh Jeter left two so between those three, eleven men were left on. Sounds like there was enough blame to go around.

Mid, the least you could do is start his suspension immediately.

Old Prof.

Look at the entire season - not one game.
